How we rank
We want you to be able to trust a NearbyWise list, so every list is ordered by the same method, applied in the same way to every business that qualifies. Editors review the result but don't reorder it to favour anyone, and no business can pay to be included or to rank higher.
Who qualifies
- The business is listed as operating on Google.
- Its own website states the service the guide is about (for example, a price for a chemical wash).
- We could read enough of its website to verify at least six kinds of fact, such as prices, warranty, service area and how to book.
A list only promises as many entries as we can support: we need at least one and a half times as many qualifying businesses as the number in the title.
How the order is set
- Google rating, adjusted for review count (60%). A rating from a handful of reviews counts for less than the same rating from hundreds, so a 5.0 from six reviews does not outrank a 4.8 from two thousand.
- Fit to the topic (30%). How many of the facts the guide needs the business publishes: a price list, warranty terms, service area and so on.
- Recency (10%). Whether we have checked the business's facts in the last 30 days.
What we don't do
- We don't rate quality, friendliness or reliability: we haven't used these services.
- We don't repeat a price, warranty or claim unless the business publishes it.
- We don't accept payment for placement. If we ever carry sponsored listings, they will be labelled and kept out of the ranking.
